Fall colors , mist and other fun things

Its been a while since I did a blog post -- been busy taking photos for the library and other events and not so many for myself (not a bad thing). I'm loving the fall colors and the mist so this post is full of those type of photos 

some of the pretty fall leaves at my mom's house 

the beautiful colors against a beautiful sky 

from inside during a rain storm -- loved how the light was streaming  through the drops 

love this affect -- we had a quick rain shower and when the sun came back out the rain turned to mist on the roof and the light made a few small rainbows that my lens captured 

just loved the colors and the shadows here (this is my mom's house ) 

this is all about the composition 

this was at sunset -- the mist in the trees was awesome and I loved how the light was just on the top of the trees... 

and as it got a little darker -- and the light highlighted the flag in the front 

and an even closer view of the mist

this is a field across the street at the same time -- loved the mist in the field 

I love spooky moons -- took this one sometime in September and had to share 

I loved the colors and the light and also how you can see the sky through part of the overpass 

loved the colors of the sky and the way it reflected in the windows... 

mist in the morning -- I love how it surrounded the steeple of this church 

and some of the dew in the bushes .... 

and loved how the building emerging from the mist 

and of course I had to include a mist photo of  the library -- my favorite part of this one is the way the plants in the pedestal vases are dripping down in front of the buildin 

another fall evening photo -- I loved the color of the sky and the wheat in front 

sharing this one because of the pink stripes in the sky 

loved the colors of the clouds -- this is a sunrise ... 

my first ever sighting of a rainbow spot -- super cool to see in the sky 

and a wider view to show just how big the spot really is

this just says fall to me ...

pumpkins just because its fall 

this was the barn at the cider mill we went to -- loved the falling leaves around it 

there were still sunflowers there so I had to share them  

a barn by the corn fields -- so pretty 

and finally a shot of the cornfields again -- I loved the red leaves ...


So here is my first taste of fall photos -- I'm sure I will be taking and sharing more over the next few weeks. Thanks as always for enjoying my photos with me .... 

A little of this, a little of that

One of my favorite things to do is just have my camera with me and take pictures of whatever strikes my fancy. I haven't done a blog post in a while but of course I have been out taking pictures. I chose some random ones from that last week that I like. 

This was taken from the 5th floor window -- there was a hawk on the corner of the building -- just one of those cool and random things ... 

A nice long view of the pong -- one of my favorite places on campus .... 

This cardinal visits me quite often when I am sitting at the pond (which I do almost every day). He was within a foot of me and clearly made his presence known 

part of the pond -- there are always interesting plants around the edges and it was such a beautiful day when I took this -- I loved the ripples in the water and the reflected clouds 

I love getting at just the right angle to make an interesting picture -- there were lots of fluffy white clouds and the smoke stack is back lit -- just a fun image to capture 

There is always lots of wildlife by the pond and I have taken lots of photos of ducks but very rarely do I get one taking a drink and reflected so nicely in the surface ... 

this one was just too cute -- I was sitting on one of the benches reading and all of a sudden this chipmunk pops its head up between the rocks -- 

I love getting pictures of the sky and this was particularly beautiful. -- I also love the silhouetted leaves

some purple flowers -- I liked the way they were clustered together... 

from the over pass in the evening -- what I really like about this one is the reflection of the ceiling lights and then the sky through the windows -- a fun view 

we have had some pretty impressive sunsets lately -- I really like the striping and the the shape of the tree in this one 

this is all about the colors of the sky -- the pink was so pretty and I loved the layering of the clouds

some simple white flowers in front of a fence near my apartment -- sometimes there is something to be said for simple 

I love trees and reflections -- this is in one of the apartment buildings I walk by -- just thought it was pretty

Crows on a wire -- seen on the walk in one morning -- I thought it was interesting how the way they were sitting was similar 

one of the many cute little birds that are all over campus -- don't know what it is but I loved how it was sitting on  the wall

another view of my cardinal -- you can't tell from the picture but he was right behind the bench I was sitting on looking at me

I really loved the reflection  -- such a beautiful bird -- don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing him and taking his picture

a chipmunk in a tree above my head -- just too funny

one of the beautiful sunsets reflected in the windows -- I liked how many windows you can see it in 

a simple clover -- i really like the green background on this one 

I love the line of thistles with the butterfly in the middle and the shapes of all the stalks

the lighting on the bee was just perfect and I love the contrast of black and white -- and yes this is taken with my macro lens 

a really close up of part of a cat tail -- a very new and green one 

this was a pretty interesting sculpture that I came across as I was walking on the trail.
