Its all about the light and the reflections

In my photography class we are learning about light and how to create and capture it as we prepare to work in the studio. Over the last few days I went out practicing with my new lens and just looking for the different qualities of light. I was also intrigued by several reflections I found in windows.  The adventure continues  :)

This shot was taken from the 5th floor window in the library around 8:15 am on Friday. I loved how the light made shadows on the chapel across the street

This is taken from that same 5th floor window. This window is on the right side of the building. The reflections we so awesome that is looks like a painting. Such a beautiful morning for photos.

This tree is on my walk home from work on Friday night at about 6:30. The light was so amazing that night. I used my 50mm lens with a UV filter on it to catch it

Again a shot from Friday night -- one of the houses on my walk home. The sun was starting to set and I Love the way the shadows give the exterior of the house a pinky orange color.

This was the sunset Friday night. I took this one to see what affect the UV filter would have on the sunset color. Pretty pleased and no lens flare...

As I mentioned I was all about reflections on Friday. This is the same sunset above captured in my bedroom window. Again looks like a painting and I love this shot.

This was from my adventures on Saturday. I took it around 2 in the afternoon. It was windy and the light is just awesome. My 50 mm lens is fast enough to catch the movement of the stalks without blur. Loving it -- and I always like the fluffy wheat grass...

I stumbled across this milk weed pod. I think it was left over from last winter because the fluff was still in a ball. When I stood it up to take a picture the seeds started flying around. I probably took 100 different shots and this is one of my favorite.  The wind and the light made it lots of fun -- another subject I really enjoy taking pictures of.

This photo is just to show how beautiful the sky and clouds were yesterday. Again taken with the UV filter on my lens. Love the texture and shape in the clouds.

I ventured all over the place and ended up by the Katz building around 4:15 yesterday afternoon. These three shots are the reflections. 1 is on the right side and two are the left side. Its a pretty cool building and I love to get reflection shots in it.

There are a lot of Windows and shiny copper plating on the side of this building. I tried to show a little of both in this photo.

This is a reflection of the clouds and blue sky in the copper plating -- its an awesome surface to work with if you are there at the right time.....
