Spring Flowers -- round 2

I ventured outside again on this beautiful morning and practiced with my angles and composition and just had fun capturing the beauty that is out there. I took a lot but these are my favorites and a mix of  a lot of different things .

These were close to my apartment. I love how the purple flowers are framed by the trees behind them. I had to get low to get this, but worth it.

Another of the flowering pink trees. I love how they cascade. So soft and pretty and they smell good .

Orange tulips -- and love that they are in front of the bark ...

These were in someone's yard. I love the contrast of the white against the dark leaves

This whole tree was covered with the purple buds. I love the shape of the branches and the green behind just adds to the beauty of it for me.

The top of the same tree above. Such fun shapes and soft color.

A pine cone -- the shape and texture was so fun and I love how the branches of the tree sweep around it, plus the boca in the background

Again this is about the shape and the lines. I saw this from a distance and knew I had to capture it. I love how the blossoms are right up against the gate..

Orange roses against a stone wall -- what could be better and the shape was just aweome

I loved how this section of the blooms curved. another must get shot :D

and a close up. I loved the color and the contrast

took these with my mom in mind. was happy I could get so close and the shape was awesome

a differnt angle. I love the swirl of the stem and love how much they look like little bells

More orange flowers. I love the texture and the contrasting triangle shapes in this

I love the swirl of the leaves behind this one

This is all about the puff ball on the top and the leaves below make a nice contrast. Such a fun shot

These were so interesting. I love the colors -- the yellow and purple just pop and then to have the little puff  from the cat tails made it even more fun

Usually purple flowers do not translate well, but this one did. I love the differnt levels of colors and the angle was fun too

These flowers were an unsual color and very interesting that they had a fuzz on the outside, and the green just adds depth to it ..

Very pleased with how clear the leaves on this came out. The multiple star shapes make it awesome

they looked like little grapes ...

tons of tulips. Loved the color contrast and taking the from above makes it seem like they never end

this is all about the red and white -- such a well landscaped flower bed

Pink petals -- so pretty and the shallow depth of field really highligts it

Can you tell there were a lot of tulips -- they were all so pretty but I especially loved the combination of the orange and yellow in these

Such a pretty purple-- and the light on the front one was especially one

I just loved the layers of different colors . Got down below them to capture the sheer number ..

More orange roses. This is all about the shape and I like the little rain drops...

This is all about the color and the shape -- the purple is so pretty and they look like little stars and then adding the little droplets make them shimmer

A really close up that came out very well -- I love that its a combination of buds and blossoms

a colorful leaf after the rain. I love how the drops look like they are just about to fall

These looked like tentacles so I just had to get a picture

More orange and yellow ( can you see a theme here) and the rain drops add more sparkle to it .

this is all about the color contrast. Love the orange and the blue together

Not sure whaat this is but I saw it in the grass and love the little white stars around it

Saw this tree and just loved the shape and the bit of rain brought out the contrast.

Thanks as always for sharing with me. I have really enjoyed playing with color and texture and even angles to help mother nature really shine -- and hey a little bit of rain will not stop me and in some cases yields really interesting results.

Scenery from campus and Bethesda

Its been way too long since I posted anything to my blog, but I have been busy working on my final video project for my class, being a student and attending a conference in Bethesda Maryland. Today was a beautiful day and I had some time to wander around campus and get some fun shots. I also am sharing a few of the fun and interesting photos I took in and around the hotel in Bethesda.

These tulips are right outside of the library where I work. The light was gorgous and I had to take this

the pink blossoms are so soft and smell so good and of course the light drew me to them ...

I've taken pictures of this fountain many times before but an always drawn to it again. I like this one because of the motion and the tulips behind and to the left...

I was playing with depth of field and boca -- loved the angle of the tree and the blue sky behind these little pink buds ...

some nice deep purple flowers on campus-- love the color so had to get this shot...

More tulips -- loved the color on the edges and also the way the green frames and fades around them

shooting up into the tree tops. I love the contrast of the fluffy white against the vibrant blue -- and I love the shapes of these -- such a pretty day for picture taking...

this is one of my favorite that I took today. I love the chiaroscuro (interplay of light and shadow) and the way the flowers are peeking from between the branches...

A smaller fountain on campus. This one is just a trickle. I love the texture and shape of the fountain and als how the trees are budding behind it

some pretty pink flowers. I love them for the white star pattern in the center

More buds on branches, love the lines and the boca in this one

these flowering trees are all over campus. I loved the shape of this one and the light (of course)

this is a close up of the same tree -- love the cascade of the blossoms and the highlight on the top

the very top of the branches of the same tree-- I love the contrast of the pink against the blue

A different pink tree on campus.  close up -- love the texture and the pink boca in the background

From the Bethesda Hotel:

some lights on the ceiling of the hotel -- thought they were interesting and fun

a little courtyard .. I just loved the design -- felt very homey to me

A glass structure outside Panera on the streets of Bethesda

part of the pipes in the ceiling above the pool which was on the top floor...

the glass elevators in the hotel .. looking from the lobby  -- a fun angle and the timing was pretty good too ...

ann interesting sculpture in the square outside the hotel. I like the way the tulips frame it and the shadow it creates on the wall behind ...

and finally a fountain in the same square. I love all the contrasting lines and shapes in this and the hint of green from the tree on the left ..

Thanks as always for sharing my photos with me. Now that I have a little more free time ( and the weather is awesome) I will try to post on a more frequent basis.
